Fire Protection Specifications & Technical Schedules

Ignis Safety Consultants provides independent specification support for passive fire protection and related fire safety measures—helping you define what performance is required, where it is required, and what evidence should support compliance. This service is particularly valuable during refurbishment, remedial works, and complex projects where product compatibility, tested details, and quality assurance processes must be clearly defined We do not install or supply fire protection systems. Our role is advisory, technical, and impartial.

Why specification quality is critical

Passive fire protection depends on systems performing as tested and installed. Industry guidance emphasizes that compartment lines must not be compromised, penetrations must be properly sealed, and the products selected should have relevant test or certification evidence for the intended use.

Where inappropriate products are used or systems are mixed without evidence, failure risk increases dramatically—especially around service penetrations and fire stopping details.

What Your Receive

  • A clear specification document or schedule (format to suit project stage)
  • Passive fire protection requirements written for buildability and verifiability
  • Optional inspection / sign-off workflow recommendations (so compliance is captured, not assumed)

What we can specify

Specification support is tailored to your project and may include:

  • Fire stopping performance requirements and system selection principles (evidence-led)
  • Compartmentation line intent and continuity requirements
  • Fire doorset performance expectations (including maintenance/inspection planning references)
  • Cavity barrier intent (where relevant to the building design)
  • Quality assurance expectations: records, registers, sign-off requirements, and O&M deliverables
  • Contractor briefing notes and clarity around “who does what” for passive fire deliverables

How we work

  • Inputs review: drawings, planned works, constraints, and risk profile
  • Define performance: what the building requires and where
  • Evidence alignment: ensure specification expectations match recognized test/certification principles
  • Buildable documentation: create schedules and details that contractors can price and deliver
  • Support: respond to technical queries and review substitutions from an impartial standpoint
