Ignis Safety Consultants is a Fire Safety Compliance company which was formed in 2018 by two former Jersey Fire & Rescue Head officers with over 60 years of Fire Safety experience between them.

The company and team has expanded over those years with every member having the skills, qualifications and experience required to provide you or your organisation the fire safety support you need.

Charles Hunt

Charles became experienced in risk management and policy underwriting during his time within the Insurance sector. During which stage, he also became accomplished in managing functions, lying within firm’s risk management policies, closely monitoring all levels of organisational risk, and creating bespoke policies for individual risks.

Having received one to one training in PAS 79 Fire Risk Assessment standards from the former heads of service delivery within the Jersey Fire & Rescue Service, Charles has quickly become a knowledgeable Fire Safety Consultant, reinforced by a NOS level 4 Fire Safety qualification, completing a FPA Fire Stopping & Compartmentation course and having also completed the Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS) Diploma in Fire Doors. Charles is also a Technician of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).

Since his switch for Ignis Safety Consultants in the Fire Safety industry, he has continued to gain experience in fire safety strategies and policies for firms and their buildings, understanding both passive and active fire elements.

Charles has been trained to deliver high standard PAS 79 standard Fire Risk Assessments and consult on numerous fire safety services across both private and commercial sectors.

Martyn Maguire

Martyn is an accredited Life Safety Risk Assessor with the Institute of Fire Engineers and has an extensive knowledge of fire risk, completing Fire Risk Assessments across all of the business sectors in the Channel Islands including , High Rise, Health Care, Office and Industry.

Martyn’s extensive knowledge and understanding of fire, fire safety, and training was gained through 32 years with Jersey Fire and Rescue Service. He is a Graduates of the Institute of Fire Engineers and a Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers and the Chartered Management Institute where he is also a Chartered Manager.

Whilst in the Fire and Rescue Service Martyn progressed through the operational and administrative roles and in 2007 he was promoted to a Senior Management Role (Group Commander) where he maintained operational responsibilities as a supervisory officer and sat on the senior management board, he retired from the Fire Service as Head of Fire Safety in March 2018.

Martyn also sat on a number of influential boards ensuring effective and efficient management of strategic initiatives such as the Safeguarding Policies and Procedures Board, and the Hazards Review Group. His main responsibilities included the upholding of all regulatory fire safety requirements for Jersey under the Fire Precautions (Jersey) Law 1977, all regulatory requirements for petroleum installations under the Petroleum (Jersey) Law 1984, and all regulatory requirements under the Explosives (Jersey) Law 1970. Martyn worked with law offices to revise all three pieces of legislation and sat on various working parties to ensure Jersey kept on top of National and International regulatory requirements.

On leaving the service Martyn set up Ignis Safety Consultants Limited with his business partner Martin Allix to continue delivering fire safety services throughout the Channel Islands.

Martin Allix

HNC Architectural Designer, followed by 25 years within the States of Jersey Fire & Rescue Service; 10 years of which was as the Head of Operations.

Martin has a comprehensive knowledge of buildings, their construction and of both passive and active fire safety elements. Martin has been trained to delivery high quality Fire Safety Advice and PAS 79 standard Fire Risk Assessments.As a Fire Officer he received training and qualification in the following:

  • Technical Fire Safety
  • Fire Risk Assessments; and
  • Fire Engineering

Hayley Schofield

Office Administator & Data Protection Officer

Hayley joined Ignis in 2023 having previously managed her own private company. Since her switch to the Fire Safety industry she has gained experience in compliance inspections for both residential and commercial properties.
