Ignis Safety Consultants is a Fire Safety Compliance & Training company that was formed in 2018 by two former States of Jersey Fire & Rescue Head Officers.

Now the team has expanded, we now share over 80 years of Fire Safety experience between the team, with every member of having the skills, qualifications, and experience required to provide you with the fire safety support you need. 

We are nationally recognised as Accredited Third Party Life Risk Assessors and Fire Safety Trainers – Jersey Safety Council Approved.

Charles Hunt

Head of Fire Safety Services – AIFSM TIFireE DipFD

Having received 5 years of one-to-one training from the former Heads of Service Delivery within the Jersey Fire & Rescue Service, Charles has quickly become a knowledgeable Fire Safety Officer, reinforced with Level 3 & 4 Fire Safety Qualifications and Diploma with the FDIS (Fire Door Inspection Scheme). Already a Technician with the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), Charles was most recently awarded an Associate membership with the Institution of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM). 

Since his switch to the Fire Safety industry, he has continued to gain experience and knowledge in all aspects of fire safety.

Charles has been trained to deliver high-standard, Level 1-4, PAS 79 Standard Fire Risk Assessments, create Fire Strategies, and consult on numerous fire safety services across both private and commercial sectors.

Martyn Maguire

Director – GIFireE MIFSM MCMI CMgr

Martyn is an accredited Life Safety Risk Assessor with the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and has an extensive knowledge of fire risk, fire risk assessments across High-rise buildings, Healthcare, Commercial Offices, and Industry.

Martyn’s extensive knowledge and understanding of fire, fire safety, and training was gained through 32 years with the Jersey Fire & Rescue Service. He is a graduate of the IFE and a Member of the IFSM and Chartered Management Institute (CMI), where he is a Chartered Manager. 

Whilst in the Fire Service, Martyn progressed through operational and administrative roles, and in 2007 he was promoted to Group Commander. He retired from the Fire Service as Head of Fire Safety in 2018.

Martyn sat on several influential boards ensuring efficient management of strategic initiatives such as the Safeguarding Policies & Procedures Board & Hazard Review Group. His responsibilities included the upholding of regulatory fire safety requirements for Jersey under the Fire Precautions (Jersey) Law 1977; Petroleum (Jersey) Law 1984 and Explosives (Jersey) Law 1970. 

On leaving the service Martyn and his business partner Martin Allix set up Ignis Safety Consultants.

Martin Allix

Director – GIFireE MIFireSM

HNC Architectural Designer, followed by 25 years within the States of Jersey Fire & Rescue Service; and 10 years spent as Head of Operations.

Martin has a comprehensive knowledge of buildings, their construction, and both passive and active fire safety elements thanks to his former careers. He has been trained to deliver high-quality Fire Safety advice and Level 1-4, PAS 79 Standard Fire Risk Assessments. 

As a Fire Officer, he received training and qualifications in the following: 
– Technical Fire Safety
– Fire Risk Assessments; and
– Fire Engineering

Hayley Schofield

Office Administrator/Fire Safety Technician

Hayley joined Ignis Safety Consultants in 2023, having previously managed her own private company. Since joining as an Office Administrator, Hayley has gained experience in compliance inspections for both residential and commercial properties, Fire Safety Training Events, and Level 1 Fire Risk Assessments. 

In 2024, Hayley decided that she wanted to pursue the path of a Fire Risk Assessor, and has now commenced her one-on-one training with Martyn, Martin & Charles.

MARCOS FERREIRA

Fire Safety Technician

Having recently completed a Degree at University, Marcos has returned to Jersey to pursue a career in the Fire Safety sector. 

Marcos joined Ignis Safety Consultants in 2023 and has gone on to become a retained firefighter for the States of Jersey Fire & Rescue Service.

Marcos is currently training to become a Fire Risk Assessor, with his training commencing in residential buildings. During his time with the company Marcos has also gained an extensive knowledge of our Fire Safety training courses to become a trainer in 2024.
